Getting a new entertainment space in Reading

I needed a fitted bar after hosting a gathering where we lacked space. I chose to look near Forbury Gardens.

I found the website while browsing and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens replied with a quote that felt right for the job.

The journey of organising this project was honestly quite detailed. I dedicated several hours reflecting on the configuration of the room before even choosing up the device. My living area has constantly felt a bit incomplete, and owning a proper zone for drinks seemed like the ideal solution to that issue. I remember sitting in my hallway staring at a messy countertop filled with glassware and feeling that something had to change. The first conversation with the staff was extremely straightforward, which provided me assurance. We discussed different styles, from contemporary minimalist looks to something traditional and timber finishes. I was quite surprised by how much information they requested regarding the dimensions and the existing decor of my house. It felt like they genuinely desired the final result to blend perfectly with the balance of the property. I provided multiple angles in the photos I uploaded, ensuring sure every nook was visible. They explained that the bespoke type of the furniture signified that accuracy was absolutely paramount to prevent any problems throughout the installation. We moved forth and forth on possible resources, looking at samples of laminate and various types of timber grain. It is surprising how much consideration goes into selecting the right handles, like pulls and copyrights, which could totally alter the feel of the whole construction. I needed a space where I might comfortably mix cocktails for friends without needing to repeatedly run back to the kitchen for lemons or glasses. The ease of having everything in one spot was the main reason for this investment. We settled the design after a short meeting where all my concerns about plumbing and lighting sockets were addressed. I appreciated that they did not hurry the planning phase, spending the time to make sure that the width of the racks was sufficient for my largest glassware. It felt like a joint process rather than a standard sale, which is hard to locate nowadays.

The fitting date arrived faster than expected, and the fitter was punctual and prepared. He began by laying down safety covers to ensure my flooring remained tidy. Watching the parts being unpacked was interesting, as the quality of the materials was immediately evident. He meticulously verified the alignment of the floor before securing the base frame of the unit. I watched as the structure gradually gained form, changing a plain corner into a practical feature. The level of craftsmanship involved in scribing the panels to the wonky surfaces of my period house was impressive. He explained why each piece slotted together to create total stability. We spent a little duration deciding on the exact position for the integrated fridge, ensuring it was easy to open but hidden away from main sight. The installation of the worktop was the highly rewarding part of the whole day. Seeing the polished top at last resting on the base made the project come real. He then installed the mirrored backsplash, which immediately made the room to look double the size. The LEDs were wired next, and testing them for the initial moment was a highlight. The soft glow below the shelves showcased the glassware perfectly. I was able to visualise exactly how handy this would be for night events. The fitter was very careful, spending the time to wipe down each surface and clear any dust created during the drilling. He additionally showed me how to adjust the shelves if I later needed to store bigger pieces. The focus to detail was really great, straight down to the silicone lines around the edges. It was clear that he had great satisfaction in his craft, which is always reassuring to witness. We did a final walkthrough of the finished work to make all was to standard. I noted that a single handle was a bit wobbly, and he fixed it straight away with a fast twist of a tool. This diligence was exactly what I was hoping for when I arranged the job.

The finished area looks completely amazing and has become the focal feature of my home. It provides a classy feel that had been previously lacking from my living space. The storage is huge, allowing me to organise all my spirits, mixers, and fancy glasses in one cohesive unit. No more do I need to search inside cluttered kitchen cabinets to locate a bottle opener or a certain type of glass. Everything has its rightful place, which makes hosting much much simpler and stress-free. I love the way the finishes catch the sunlight in the afternoons, creating a warm atmosphere. My guests have already complimented the setup several occasions, with some actually asking for the details of the company who built it. It truly feels like a custom addition tailored exactly for my lifestyle. The height of the countertop is perfect for standing by with a drink, and the integrated lighting units offer just the correct level of illumination without being too bright. Even when not in use, it works as a beautiful piece of furniture that lifts the whole look of the property. I used a bit time arranging my collection on the racks to create a visual arrangement. The glass panels truly help in showcasing the bottles and adding dimension to the tight space. It has inspired me to try making different cocktails that I before thought were too complicated to bother in a normal kitchen. Having the sink nearby might have been good, but the area limits meant we opted without it to save cabinet room. This was a deliberate decision we took at the design stage, and I do not regret it. The extra cupboard space for straws and tools is far more valuable to me in the run term.

There were a few of minor limitations that are fair to mentioning for a balanced perspective. The lead time for the custom panels was a little longer than I originally wanted. It took about eight days from the first deposit to the actual fitting date. While this is understandable for tailored furniture, it meant a bit of waiting on my part. I had wanted to have it ready for a specific event, but we passed that deadline by a week. However, the updates from the office regarding the progress were consistent, so I was never kept in the unknowing. I would wait a bit longer for a product that is made to endure than have a rushed job that fails after a couple years. The initial cost estimate was also a little less than the final invoice, mostly because I chose to upgrade the hardware and add more inside lighting midway through the process. These changes were completely my decision, and the team was very clear about the additional costs required. Another minor issue was the amount of boxes remaining after the fitting. Although the worker tidied up the work area well, there was a significant pile of cardboard to dispose of in my recycling. It was not a big problem, but a thing to consider if you have little bin space. Despite these minor points, the overall experience was very positive. The standard of the finish is much better to anything I could have bought off-the-shelf. It seems solid and durable, and I am confident it will handle decades of use. I feel the value it has added to my property well exceeds the upfront cost. It has transformed the way I enjoy my downstairs space, rendering it far more inviting. I no anymore sense cramped when people come over.

Thinking back on the entire project, I am really glad I went ahead with it. The first idea originated from a trip to a neighbour's house in Oxford, where they had a comparable bar. I realised then how greatly it improved the movement of the evening. When I got back to Reading, I started looking for nearby options and found that working with a specialist outfit was the only route to achieve the exact look I wanted. The chance to pick each detail, from the colour of the paint to the placement of the plug sockets, ensured the end product was just as I pictured. I also got a small hidden compartment built for storing valuable tools like fancy spoons. This kind of customisation is what makes the service special. It didn't seem like a generic item being fitted into a space where it did not belong. Instead, it feels like it has always been a segment of the house. If you are thinking about a similar domestic improvement, fitted bar my advice would be to be patient and invest the time on the design stage. It is much easier to change a sketch than it is to fix a unit once it is manufactured. The expertise provided during the beginning was invaluable in preventing me from doing common errors, such as placing the cooler too close to a heat source. These small bits of wisdom are what you buy for when you choose skilled professionals. I am currently looking at other parts of my home to see where else I could install built-in storage. The success of this fitted project has provided me the confidence to start a bigger renovation in the bedroom later year. It has been a wonderful addition to my life, and I look forward to many years of using it with relatives and friends. Finding the right mix between looks and function was the aim, and I think we achieved it completely. The journey from a messy alcove to a stylish hosting point was well deserving the time and investment required. I today possess a space that I am really happy to share off to visitors. Reading has many nice places to go for a cocktail, but honestly, I now prefer being at my place and using my own private setup. It provides the identical feel without the crowds or the travel. That itself is deserving the entire undertaking. I am so pleased with how the ambience functions in the evening, creating a relaxing space to relax after a busy day at the office. It is the little luxuries like this that make house life much pleasant and enjoyable. I highly value the craft that went into the finished product. The manner the doors close with a silent thud speaks volumes about the build level. No aspect was overlooked, and the total look is precisely what I needed it would be when I originally started this adventure. It is a credit to the talent of the fitters and the standard of the materials used. I am a very happy customer.
